The village is well supplied with quality outlets for food and drink, the majority of them give the contest excellent financial support in the form of sponsorship through our contest magazine.
There is a fast food outlet, specially place on Millgate Car Park, especially for the bands.
Over the bridge at the cross-roads, The White Lion serves food up to the contest start time and an outside burger bar during the contest.
In the middle of the village Saddleworth Crafts is open until late selling gorgeous craft items and paintings, the adjoining café, Crumbles, is also open until late and take away food and hot drinks are always available.
‘Albion Farm Shop and Cafe are no more than 5 minutes out of the village on the main Oldham to Huddersfield Road (A62) At Albion Farm you can find anything from a hearty farmhouse breakfast to afternoon tea, all manner of delicious food items and a selection of bread, cheeses and a butchery where many of the meats are from the family farm at Castleshaw, excellent range of BBQ essentials. A great balcony cafe with stunning views of the Saddleworth countryside, a great place to spend the afternoon on Whit Friday
The Frostery is open during the day serving a good selection of coffee and cake, on a fine day there is a lovely outdoor area for a peaceful drink and chat. The Post Office sell home cooked Indian Cuisine until late.
The Band Club on Lawton Square is open throughout the day and you can enjoy a Yorkshire Pork Pie or Ham Sandwich along with your pint.
The Methodist Church Hall is open throughout the contest for home made cake, sandwiches and hot drinks, Sit and enjoy the luxury right at the heart of the contest. The church is generous enough to allow visitors to use their excellent toilet facilities, which include a disabled toilet.
Seating is provided by the contest however you are welcome to bring your own if you wish.
In addition there will be home made traditional Indian food on sale at the Post Office on King Street served until late, the shop will also be open
New addition – Ice Cream Van in the Church Car Park!! Thanks to St Thomas’ for giving permission, and the owner will be making a donation to the church for this facility. This community co-operation helps us all to make Whit Friday a great family event.
